Environmental Policy Statement

Our aim is to maintain a Carbon Neutral business – we offset our CO2 emissions by the careful management of our own woodland

We all have a responsibility to take environmental matters seriously.  To this effect Swallow Barn Weddings makes every effort to minimise the impact that the day to day running of the business has on the environment.
We will take action to:-
•    Minimise the use of natural resources and lessen any impact from the business on the environment
•    Purchase non-polluting and energy efficient technologies wherever possible
•    Assist suppliers and customers to promote greener products and services
•    Meet or exceed all applicable regulations
•    Regularly review our performance  for resource efficiency and pollution reduction and implement  identified  improvements
•    Communicate, review and update this policy regularly


Environmental Policy in Practice;
Local and Sustainable Food
We use seasonal, local and/or organic produce where possible such British flowers and wine and for our wedding breakfasts local meat, vegetables and fruit.
Water Conservation
Our water supply is metered and we only use water efficient appliances and re-cycled rain water to maintain our grounds as much as possible.
Sustainable Materials
We mainly use renewable materials sourced from our own managed woodland to heat our business premises and belong to the Small Woodlands Association
Sustainable Transport
We provide transport to our weddings for all guests by small luxury coach and do not allow any unnecessary cars on site.
Carbon Reduction
We strive to be energy efficient through the use of  energy efficient light bulbs, our  premises are well insulated, we keep temperatures to a minimum and ensure appliances are turned off when not in use.  We use solar energy to light our outside facilities
Culture & Heritage
Masson Farm is organic, with free range hens and suckler cattle.  We use traditional methods such as coppicing and dry stonewalling to preserve local traditions and the landscape.
Diversity and Fair Trade
We pay fair wages, offer equal opportunity to all on merit, and support fair trade.
Waste Reduction
We communicate with our customers electronically and recycle paper, cans and glass, ink cartridges, compost waste and re-use as much as possible.  After our weddings, the flowers are taken to our local homes for older people for their enjoyment
Use of Suppliers
We only use our own approved suppliers who are encouraged have their own identifiable environmental policies and practices.
